As with other unique properties that Howard Spa Consulting advises on, The Lanesborough owns strong identifiable brand values that can be extended to a sub-brand such as a club or spa concept, provided that these values are maintained to the highest standards, and clearly interwoven into the physical & service fabric of the subsequent sub-brand concept.
We identified that the London hotel spa market was well supplied, but the luxury independent club market was relatively weak by comparison. The unique Lanesborough brand would translate perfectly if extended to a valued Independent Members Club. Consequently, we created a hybrid of a Members Club and a Spa, where one meets the other seamlessly. We then sought & established a compelling mix of well-known service partners laying the foundations for the formation of a luxury wellness concept, infusing specialist training and utilising The Lanesborough service ethic.
Opened in 2017, The Lanesborough Club & Spa is an exclusive & elegant independent club with a spa [rather than a hotel club, or hotel spa], accessed via the hotel and also by a ‘members only’ entrance.
There is a distinctive luxurious ‘club for life’ feel, providing an excellent location to meet, improve personal wellbeing, or simply relax. The mix & scale of facilities has been painstakingly selected & meticulously arranged to create journeys that flatter various combinations of experiences. The ambience mirrors The Lanesborough’s core principles of being vibrant, elegant and a grand ‘home from home’.
Howard Spa Consulting were responsible for the facility content; developing the concept & layouts; financial projections; equipment recommendations & costings; operational design; negotiation & selection of ‘specialist partners’; treatment menus; SOP manuals; training programme; and on-going operational refinement.
